Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the welding results between GTAW and SMAW which were preheated at 200 ° C, and non-preheating to hardness and tensile strength. This research uses SUS 304 material, the material is given a preheating treatment and welded using GTAW and SMAW welding. The type of electrodes used are E308L and NSN-308 seam V with an angle of 60 °. The results showed that the tensile strength of the preheating SMAW increased by 374,66〖N/mm〗^2compared to the non preheating SMAW of 332,57〖N/mm〗^2and the preheating GTAW material by 424,68〖N/mm〗^2, non preheating GTAW of 354,92〖N/mm〗^2. In the hardness value for non preheating SMAW specimens, the highest increase in weld metal points was 160.66 kg/〖mm〗^2, the lowest non preheating GTAW was 143.33 kg/〖mm〗^2, for the area HAZ (head affaect zone) preheating SMAW welding of 160.33 kg/〖mm〗^2compared to non preheating GTAW of 141.67kg/〖mm〗^2, for the highest base metal in the SMAW preheating welding of 147 , 33 Keywords: SUS 304, welding, preheating, tensile test, hardness.
