Abstract

KHOERUNISA, SUCI. 2020. The Implementation of the Discovery Learning Model Assisted by Crossword Puzzles for Improving Communication Skills Based on Blended Learning. Essay. The purpose of this research is to know the profile of improvement of students communication skills before and after application of learning to learn cross-puzzles based on blended learning to improve communication skills and to know the effectiveness level of discovery learning model assisted by crossword puzzles in improving communication skills based on blended learning. The research used is experimental research. The population of this research is a class VIII student at the SMP City of Tegal 2019/2020 school year as many as eight classes.Sampling techniques use simple random sampling. So the sample used in this research there are two classes that are class VIII B as control group and VIII C as experimental group. Data is taken using test sheets, observations and poll sheets.The Data was analyzed using the Independent test sample T-Test and N-Gain score test. The results showed that a communication skills improvement profile before applied to the discovery learning model was categorized as a result of the average pretests of 56.93 and after learning increased by 83,067 in high category. So judging from the pretests data and posttest implementation of the discovery learning model can improve students communication skills. And obtained the value of N-Gain score in the experimental class of 59.21 % showing categories quite effective.In the control class, 54.65% showed less effective
