Abstract

TRISDIANTO, PRADANA MEISANDY.2020. The Development of Comics Based on Science Edutainment Contains Aspects of Science Literacy Attitudes on Environmental Pollution Material. Thesis. Keywords: Comics, Science Edutainment, Aspects of the Literacy Attitude of Science This study aims to: 1) determine the stages of the development of comics based on Science Edutainment; 2) determine the effectiveness of the implementation of Science Edutainment based comics on students' scientific literacy attitudes. This research is a development research or Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model adapted from Thiagarajan (1974). In the development stage of the Science Edutainment-based comic, its feasibility was assessed as a learning medium by 2 material experts and 1 media expert. Then do the small-scale test and large-scale test. The data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The data obtained from the questionnaire were analysed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study were 4 D development procedures which included 4 development stages, namely; 1) Definition stage, 2) Design stage, 3) Development stage includes comic assessment based on Science Edutainment by 2 material experts and 1 media expert. In the Science Edutainment-based comic assessment by material experts, it gets an average score of 3.5 and the assessment by media experts gets an average score of 3.66. These results indicate that the comics based on Science Edutainment are very feasible to use. 4) The dissemination stage includes small-scale trials to 7 students and large-scale trials to 32 students of class VII MTs Asy-Syafi'iyyah Jatibarang. The small-scale test results obtained an average score of 33.71, and the large-scale test obtained an average score of 33.6. This shows that the comics based on Science Edutainment are very feasible to be used as learning media. The effectiveness of the implementation of Science Edutainment-based comics on scientific literacy attitudes can be seen from the results of the N-Gain Score. The result of the N-Gain Score in the field of interest in science is 0.52 which is considered moderate criteria. The results of the N-Gain Score in the field of assessing the scientific approach are 0.51 which is considered moderate. The results of the N-Gain Score in the area of environmental awareness are 0.59 which is considered moderate criteria. The conclusion of this research is that the use of comics based on Science Edutainment can be developed with a 4 D model and is effective on the attitudes of science literacy in students.
