Abstract

AMALIA, UMI FAUZIAH. 2020. The Discovery Learning Model Assisted by Science Posters to Improve the Literacy Skills of Middle School Students. Thesis. Sciences Education Department. University Pancasakti Tegal Advisor 1 Muriani Nur Hayati, M.Pd Advisor II Yuni Arfiani, M.Pd Keywords: Discovery Learning Model, Science Poster, Science Literacy The purpose of this study was (1) to test the effectiveness of discovery learning models assisted by science posters to improve the scientific literacy ability of junior high school students and (2) to determine differences in science literacy abilities of junior high school students between discovery learning models assisted with science poster learning and discovery learning models without assisted science poster. This type of research is experimental research, with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of this study was students in class VII B and VII C of SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal. Class VII B as an experimental class and class VII C as a control class. The sampling technique is cluster random sampling. Using test instrument techniques, interview guidelines, documentation, questionnaires. The instruments used were test and non-test instruments, test instruments contained test questions that would be used for pretest and posttest questions, non-test instruments contained RPP, LKPD, posters. Testing using SPSS Version 21. The results showed that (1) discovery learning model assisted by online science posters to increase scientific literacy of junior high school students on global warming material in the category of quite effective with an average percentage value of 58.73%. (2) the ability of scientific literacy of junior high school students with discovery learning models assisted by online science posters on global warming material, there is a difference, namely the t test value of 0.013 or smaller than 0.05.
