Abstract

ABSTRACT Kiki Rizqi Yani 1616500020:2020. “Students’ Perception On bilingual-based Materials in Teaching EFL (The Case Study At SMP Al – Irsyad Tegal). Research project strata 1. English Department Of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Pancasakti University Tegal. First Advisor H. Sumartono, M.Pd, Second Advisor Nur Aflahatun M.Pd. Keywords : Bilingual-Based Materials, Students Perception, and Teaching EFL. The background of this study is bilingual learning that is applied as a form of response to the demands of education in Globalization by realizing the human resources that have global insight, in hopes that the students are able to compete in the field of education by providing knowledge and mastery of English as a means of international communication. Bilingualism has become necessary due to international travel, mass media, and global Economice. The participants of this study were 20 students in 8th grade at SMP Al-Irsyad Tegal. The research aims to find out what the students’ perception of the implementation of bilingual based materials in Teaching EFL. The data were collected using Google form and interview, thus validity and reliability checked by Correlation Product Moment in SPSS. There are 15 questionnaire and only 12 valid questions since sig. (2-tailed)] <significant level (α) 0.05. It is reliable because has cronbach alpha > 0.6. There are five interview questions that the contents are appropriate with research’s purposes. This study reveals that there are 86% of 20 students show their positive perception to the use of Bilingual-based materials; by using Bilingual-based material students can more easily understand new vocabularies in English, making them easy to understand what the teacher explained in English. But there are 14% students who disagree with the use of the Bilingual-based materials. By using bilingual-based materials make the students lazy enough to translate new vocabularies by themselves.
