Abstract

AGISTINA, NASTASIA. 2021. 1617500015: “The Use of YouTube Video as Learning Media to Teach Writing to the Eleventh Grade Students of Vocational High School During the Covid-19 Pandemic”. Research Project. Strata 1 Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti University Tegal. The first Advisor is Dra. Hj. Sri Wardhani, M.Pd and the second Advisor is Noeris Meiristiani, M.Pd Keywords: Video YouTube, Teach Writing, Covid-19 Pandemic, The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of YouTube videos was effective to use in learning to write in the eleventh grade of SMK YPT Tegal in academic year 2020/2021. Based on the theoretical basis and theoretical framework, the hypothesis of this research is formulated as follows: “It is suspected that the use of YouTube videos is effective to use in teaching writing for the eleventh grade of SMK YPT Tegal in academic year 2020/2021”. The population in this study were all students of class XI TMI in the first semester of SMK YPT Tegal in academic year 2020/2021 with a total of 327 students. The sample of this study was 40 students taken by using the cluster random sampling technique. The samples were grouped into two groups, (1) control group consisting of 20 students as a control group who were not taught using YouTube videos, and (2) experimental group consisting of 20 students who were taught using YouTube videos. Data analysis from this study which were obtained using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 22 obtained the average posttest results of the two groups 78.50> 64.50. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained, which was smaller than the significant value of a, which was 0.05, meaning that Ha was accepted. This means that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. The conclusion of this study shows that the use of YouTube videos in learning to write has a positive effect for class XI SMK YPT Tegal in academic year 2020/2021.
