Abstract

Research Project.Strata 1 Program, English Department.Faculty of Teacher Training and Education.Pancasakti University Tegal. The First Advisor is Dr. Taufiqulloh, M.Humand The Second Advisor is FajarPrihatini, M.Pd. Keywords :Word cards, Students’ Vocabulary Achievement, Descriptive Text The objective of this research are: to find out how the Word Cards media is implemented in learning English vocabulary, to find out the effectiveness of Word Cards media in learning English vocabulary, to find out the significant difference between students who are taught by using Word Cards media and those who are not taught by using Word Cards. This research applied a quantitative methodology. The design of this research was true experimental with pre-test post-test control group.Cluster random sampling was used to choose the samples for the experimental and control groups. From the population of tenth-grade students at SMA Al IrsyadTegal in the academic year 2022/2023, 69 students from two classes were choosen as the sample. An instrument in this research was a vocabulary test. SPSS was used to analyze the data using the t-test technique. The results obtained were that students who are taught or treated with Word Cards media in learning vocabulary for 8 meetings showed better results than students who are not taught to use Word Cards media. It can be seen in the post-test value of the experimental group is higher than the control group with an average score of 80.36 for the experimental group, and 69.94 for the control group. So it can be concluded that the Word Card media has a positive effect on students' vocabulary achievement. This can be seen from students' responses to vocabulary learning in class. So that it can be concluded based on the results of the study: First, Word Cards media can improve students' vocabulary achievement. Second, Word Cards media has a positive influence. Third, there is a significant difference between students who are taught using Word Cards and those who are not taught using Word Card.
