Keywords:Attitudes,GoogleTranslate, Writing,RecountText This study aims to find students' attitudes toward Google Translate's use inwriting recount texts. The subjects of this research were 25 students from theeleventh grade at SMA Al-IrsyadTegal City, of which 10 students were taken forobservationandinterviewdata.Thequalitativemethodwasappliedinthisresearch.Researcher used three instruments in this study, namely, a questionnaire, mediatedobservation,andanopen-endedinterview.ResearcherusedaLikertscalequestionnaire. The result of this research is divided into three parts of attitude,namely affective, behavior, and cognition. For affective attitude, students feel thatGoogle Translate has a positive impact on them, especially when writing recounttexts. For attitude behavior, students tend to use Google Translate to translatesentences, words, and paragraphs, check collocations, antonyms, pronuncations,translatephrases,andcheckclauses.Intermsofcognitionattitude,studentsbelievethatGoogleTranslateprovidesbenefitsandcanbeusedfortheirwritingneeds,butthey are also aware of the shortcomings of Google Translate. Thus, this study isexpected to become a reference for students when using Google Translate forwriting. For teachers, this research can be used as a guide to give directions tostudents using Google Translate. For researchers, it is expected to be used as areferenceon this topic.
