Damayanti, Duwi. 2022. 1618500030. “An Analysis of English Teacher Strategies In Teaching Reading Comprehension at SMK PGRI 2 TAMAN”. Research project Strata 1. English Departement of Tecaher Training and Education Faculty, Pancasakti University Tegal. The First Advisor is Dr. Taufiqulloh, M.Hum and the Second Advisor is Ihda Rosdiana, M.Hum. Keywords: Teacher Strategy, Reading Comprehension, Reading Comprehension Strategy The objectives of this research are to find out the strategies that the teacher uses in teaching reading comprehension and how did the teacher implement strategies in teaching reading comprehension. This research using descriptive qualitative design. The subject of this research is 1 English teacher from eleventh grade at SMK PGRI 2 TAMAN. The data was collected through interview with the English teacher and observation checklist in six classes. From to the result, the teacher employed two strategies to teach reading comprehension at SMK PGRI 2 TAMAN. There are Directed Reading Activity and Question-Answer Relationship Strategy. In Directed Reading Activity strategy, the teacher divided into three step, there are before reading, during reading, and after reading. This strategy can help learners become more creative and effective readers by emphasizing word recognition and comprehension of what they are reading and gaining from the text, and then linking it to what they already know before reading the text. Question-Answer Relationship is the second strategy. The Question-Answer Relationship is a reading approach based on question comprehension and analysis. In order for students to learn from the reading, this strategy aids in helping them comprehend the questions. By teaching students to ask those questions after reading the text and referring them to where they can find the answer to the questions. Question-Answer Relationship strategy helps students reading comprehension develop. When teaching reading, questioning is an important element of student understanding. Teachers can learn how far their students understand the content of the text given by using these strategies, as well as how well the students can complete the task after the material has been presented
