Abstract
The objectives of this Research Project are : (1) to describe the strategies applied in teaching vocabulary and (2) to know the students’ response toward the implementation of teacher strategies in teaching vocabulary. It is then being the concern in investigating the study of teaching vocabulary. The researcher used a case study as a method. The participants of the research are 45 students of 10th-grade SMK Satya Praja Pemalang in academic year of 2019-2020. The data were collected using questions and interview. Thus, validity and reliability were of questionnaire checked by Correlation Product Moment in SPSS. There were only 14 valid questions of questionnaire since sig. (2-tailed)] <significant level (α) 0.05. It was reliable because has cronbachalpha> 0.60. There are 20 questions in interview and the respondents of interview are 2English teachers. The result of this research was there were some techniques that the teachers uses in teaching vocabulary at SMK Satya Praja 03 Pemalang. The strategies are : (1) teaching through the students characteristics, (2) memorizing vocabulary, (3) teaching vocabulary by using a song, (4) teaching vocabulary by using games, and (5) evaluating the students vocabulary mastery. Even the students give the negative response about the strategies applied by teachers. But, the students give the positive response if the teacher will use this strategy in teaching and learning process.
