Abstract
Alfin Rezky Pratama. 2022. 1618500038. “Students Perception on Improving Speaking Skill Through Drama Performance”. Research Project. English Education. Strata 1, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Universitas Pancasakti Tegal, the first advisor is Dr. Yoga Prihatin, M.Pd., and the second advisor is Nur Laila Molla, S. Pd., M. Hum. Keywords: Perception, Speaking Skill, Drama Performance. This study is aimed 1) to identify the perception of students’ in improving speaking skills, 2) to recognize the way students’ improve the speaking skills, 3) to identify the challenges in students’ speaking practice. The subject of this research were 12 students of eight semester and tenth semester at English Departement Universitas Pancasakti Tegal. Qualitative method was applied in this study. The researcher used Likert scale questionnaire for the instrument. Questionnaire used as the instrument to get the data. The results of this research showed that the majority students had a positive perception of speaking skills improvement through drama performance. Students were able to use some drama techniques to strengthen their interpersonal communication skills. Students responses were positive in handle their speaking skill challenges. By improving their speaking skills through drama performance can be an effective way for learning method to practice English speaking skills. Thus, it is expected for the students to use drama technique for practice speaking. For teacher is expected to practice students speaking skill through drama performance. For the further study, it is expected to used as reference in this topic.
