Abstract
Dahler, Dhecarlo. 2022. 1618500044: “The Effect of Using Movie Clips We Bare Bears on Student’s Speaking Ability in Learning Giving Opinion” (anExperimental Research at Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal). Research Project. Strata I Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Pancasakti University Tegal. The first advisor is H. Sumartono,M.Pd. and the Second Advisor is Nur Aflahatun.M.Pd. Keywords: Movie Clips, We Bare Bears, Speaking Ability in Giving Opinion. The objectives of this research are To describe the students’ speaking ability in giving opinions using movie clips and To improve the students’ speaking ability in giving opinion using movie clips. The research hypothesis is that there is a positive effect of using movie clips We Bare Bears on students' speaking ability in learning giving opinion in class XI SMA Al-Irsyad Tegal City. the population in this research is eleventh grade students of MIA SMA Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal, whith total of 156 students. The writer in this research uses purposive sampling with two design of group (experimental and control group). The sample is 50 students, 25 students are as experimental group and 25 students the control group. The experimental group is students who are taught by using movie clips We Bare Bears and the group of students who are taught with conventional method without using the movie clips is control group. After teaching for six meetings, the post-test was given by speaking test to the experimental group and the control group. The writer using a t-test to analyzed data on IBM SPSS Statistics 22 program. The result of Paired Sample T-Test in the experimental group shows that sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 < 0.05. It means the use of movie clips gives a positive effect on students’ speaking ability in giving opinion. Meanwhile, the result of the Independent Sample T-Test shows that sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 < 0.05. It means there is a significant difference in speaking scores between students who are taught by using movie clips and those who are taught without using movie clips. Based on the result of this research, the writer suggests to English teachers use movie clips as teaching or learning media to improve the students speaking ability.
