Abstract
Ilma’wa Alfarah, Lu’lu. 2022. 1618500022: “The Effect of Digital Picture Series towards Students’ Writing Ability in Narrative Text (An Experimental Study at the Tenth Grade of SMK N 1 Dukuhturi in Academic Year 2021/2022)”. Research Project. Strata 1 Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti University Tegal. The first Advisor is Yuvita, M.Pd, and the second Advisor Drs. H. Rofiudin, M.Hum. Keywords: Writing ability, Digital Picture Series, Narrative text The objectives of this research are 1) to find out whether the use of Digital Picture Series gives a positive effect on students’ writing ability in narrative text, 2) to find out whether there is a significant difference in writing scores between students who are taught by using Digital Picture Series and those who are taught without using Digital Picture Series. The research hypothesis is there is a positive effect of using Digital Picture Series on students’ writing ability in narrative text In this research, the population is the tenth-grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Dukuhturi, which is total of 576 students. The writer uses true-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used to collect data is a test, consisting of pre-test and post-test. The total sample is 72 students, 36 students are as experimental group who are taught by using Digital Picture Series and 36 students are as the control group who are taught without using Digital Picture Series. The data was analyzed using t-test on SPSS 22 program. Based on the calculation, the result of Paired Sample T-test in the experimental group shows that the sig. (2-tailed) value that is 0.000 which is lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). It means that the use of the Digital Picture Series gives a positive effect on students’ ability in writing narrative text. Meanwhile, the results of Independent Sample T-test shows that the sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000, which is lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). It proves that there is a significant difference in writing scores between students who are taught by using Digital Picture Series (the experimental group) and those who are taught without using Digital Picture Series (the control group). It is concluded that using Digital Picture Series effectively improves students' narrative writing ability. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers use Digital Picture Series media in teaching and learning to enhance students' writing ability.
