Pribadi,Teman Daya. 2022. 1615500062: “The Correlation between Google translate Usage and the Interest in Reading English Articles (A Correlational Study at SMP N 13 Tegal in Academic Year 2021/2022)”. Research Project, Strata I Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti Univerity Tegal, the First Advisor is Drs. H. Masfuad ES, M.Pd and The Second Advisor is Ihda Rosdiana,S.Pd,M.Hum. Keywords: Google Translate, Reading, English Articles. The research was conducted in order to find out the correlation between Google Translate usage and the interest in reading English articles of SMP N 13 Tegal academic year 2021/2022. This research is a correlation study with quantitative approach. The population of this research was students of SMP N 13 Tegal academic year 2021/2022 consisting of 600 students in total. The sampling method was stratified random sampling, in which the number of samples were 240 students. By survey method, 18 statements were given to students, 10 statements about Google Translate Usage and 8 Statements about the Interest in Reading English Articles. SPSS 22 was used as the medium to process the data collected through univariate and bivariate data analysis. The result of the research H1 was accepted which means there is a correlation between Google Translate usage and the interest in reading English articles. The value of the positive correlation coefficient was 0,272 and while the significance(2-tail) was 0,000. Of 240, 63,3% or 152 have a moderate level on Google Translate usage and 66,3% or 159 have a moderate level of the interest in reading English articles. 109 or 45,4 % have both level of Google Translate usage and interest in reading English articles, and the least was 4 students or 1,7% on high Google Translate usage and low interest in reading English articles. The research expected to become a reference to improves performance quality for readers and the related parties.
