Abstract

ABSTRACT DODI HENDRIK SETIAWAN, 2023. "Analysis of Voltage Variations in the ST 41 Steel MIG Welding Process", Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, Pancasakti University, Tegal 2023. Welding is an integral part of the improvement and growth of the industrial world, because welding has an important role in the repair and even engineering of metal products. Almost every construction of a construction made of metal involves elements of welding. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of voltage variations of 20 volts, 23 volts, and 25 volts on the tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact value of MIG welding of ST 41 steel. The research method used is the experimental method. This study uses ST 41 steel plate material, the type of welding used is MIG with standard ASME section 9, usses a current of 110 amperes, a voltage of 20 volts, 23 volts, and 25 volts, where a voltage variation will be carried out with a V-shaped seam on the ST 41 steel plate with a thickness of 4 mm, then the MIG welding process is carried out and tensile testing, bending testing, and impact testing are carried out. The highest average value was in the tensile test at 23 volts with a value of 321.5 N/mm2, the highest average value was in the bending test at 23 volts with a value of 1379.12 N/mm2, and the highest average impact value was in the impact test is at a voltage of 20 volts with a value of 1.239 J/mm2.
