Abstract

Sukmawati, Wendi 2023. 1619500009: “The Effect of Cake Application on Speaking Skills of the Second Semester Students of English Department at Universitas Pancasakti Tegal (An Experimental Study on the Second Semester Students of Universitas Pancasakti Tegal in Academic Year of 2022/2023)”. Research Project. Strata 1 Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti University Tegal. First Advisor is Dr. Yoga Prihatin, M,Pd, and Second Advisor is Anin Eka SS., M.Hum Keywords: Cake Application, Speaking Skills Entering the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, where all access can be reached with technology, both in the learning process and in creating suitable teaching methods using technology as the desired medium. This research is motivated by the problems faced by students when speaking. This study aims to determine whether the use of the Cake application is effective in improving speaking skills and also to find out whether there is a significant difference between students who are taught using the Cake application and students who are not taught using the Cake application. The subjects of this study were second semester students at Pancasakti University of Tegal. The population in this study were all second semester students. Total population is 40 students from two classes. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental research approach, and the design used is pretest and posttest The researcher analyzed data using IBM SPSS 22 statistics, and in collecting the data, the researcher used a speaking test and questionnaire, and then the data was analyzed using descriptive, normality, homogeneity, and a t-test. The homogeneity test score for the pre-test and post-test experiments was 0.608. The normality test was more significant than 0.05 The results showed that the use of the cake application in English Language Education at the University of Pancasakti Tegal had an effect on students' learning to speak, as evidenced by the results of the analysis, which obtained a T value of 5.537 with a sig. of 0.000 < 0.05. The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. That means there was effective and significant effect toward the students who taught speaking using the cake application of second-semester students at Pancasakti University of Tegal. and those who were not.
