Abstract

Azis, Ilham Ariffianto 2023, 1618500055: “The Use of Project-Based Learning to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill in Learning Procedure Text: A Pre- Experimental Research at at 12 th Grade of SMAN 1 Tanjung in Academic Year 2022/2023)”. Research Project. Strata 1 Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti University, Tegal. First Advisor Noeris Meiristiani, M.Pd and Second Advisor Ihda Rosdiana, M.Hum. Keyword: project-based learning, speaking skill, procedure text The purpose of the research is to find out the effectiveness of using the Project-Based Learning model to improve students’ speaking skills in learning procedure text at twelfth-grade students of SMAN 1 Tanjung. The type of research that was be conducted is experimental research. Pre- experimental design was used as a research model and using a one-group pretest- posttest design. The population in this research were all 12th grade students of SMAN 1 Tanjung Brebes. The sample of this research take a group as experimental group. The researcher took XII MIPA 6 that consists 34 students. In this reseach, it was found that the percentage increase in pronunciation was 36.88%, vocabulary 58.03%, grammar 51.30%, and fluency 38.07%.Based on the finding, the application of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has a positive influence on the speaking skills of 12 MIPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung. In learning English in class students experience difficulties, but when they study and work in groups and are guided by teacher evaluations using the Project- Based Learning model, they can improve their skills gradually and have a higher interest in learning English.
