Abstract

WARIDIN (NPM : 3118500016) Analysis of Hook Rate and Composition of Catches on the Tuna Long line Vessel "Hisatoshi Maru" Operating in Japanese Waters. (Supervisors: Kusnandar and Sri Mulyani). WARIDIN (NPM : 3118500016) Analisis Hook Rate dan Komposisi Hasil Tangkapan Pada Kapal Tuna Long line “Hisatoshi Maru” yang Beroperasi di Perairan Jepang. (Dosen Pembimbing : KUSNANDAR dan SRI MULYANI). Tuna Long line is a fishing tool that is widely used by fishermen in Japan, especially for catching tuna and marlin. This fishing gear is well developed in Japan because it is an efficient and effective fuel for catching tuna and the like which are spread throughout Japan. The aim of this research is to determine the distribution of hook rates and the composition of catches in long line tuna based on season and to determine the composition of catches. The research was carried out from August 2021 to May 2022 using the Hisatoshi Maru ship operating in Japanese waters. The material used in this research is the long line tuna fishing unit "Hisatoshi Maru". The method used in this research is a case study and a qualitative approach using observation, interview and documentation techniques as data collection techniques. The hook rate distribution was 1,997 fish and the by-catch was 72 fish with 1,500 hooks. The main catch that was mostly caught was 1,424 albacore fish (69%) and 54 (2%) Meka fish as by-catch. The hook rate for the main catch is 1.33% and the hook rate for the by-catch is 0.048%. The hook rate results vary with values between 0.303% to 3.904% and are highest on the 9th trip which coincides with winter. The composition of the main catch was dominated by albacore with 1,424 individuals (69%) and bigeye tuna with 435 individuals (21%), while the by-catch was mecha with 54 individuals (2%) and blue marlin with 13 individuals (1%). The material used is an analysis of hook rate and catch composition on the long line tuna vessel "Hisatoshi Maru" operating in Japanese waters. Keywords: Catch Results, Tuna Long Line, Hook Rate
