Abdullah, Nida Khofiyya. 2024. 1619500032 “The Effect of Using Apples to Apples Game on Students’ Vocabulary Achievement (An Experimental Research in Ninth Grade of SMP N 19 Kota Tegal 2023/2024)”. Research Project. Strata 1 Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti University Tegal. The first advisor is Yuvita M.Pd and The second advisor is Nur Laila Molla,S.Pd,M.Hum. Key words: The Effect Apples to Apples game, Vocabulary achievement The aims of this research is to find out the effect of using Apples to Apples game on students’ vocabulary achievement. Apples to Apples game is matching card game which can be played by four until eight people. There are two decks of the card, green card and red card. The green card contains adjective and adverb, while red card contains noun and adverb. All players have the opportunity to be the judge in each round. Players are given five red cards and must choose a card that mathces the green card. The player with the most matching cards receives one point from the judge, who choose which card best fits the green card. The method of this study is quantitative and used true experimental design. The Apples to Apples game is applied to the Ninth grade students of SMP N 19 Kota Tegal in academic year 2023/2024. The population of this research is Ninth grade students of SMP N 19 Kota Tegal, the total of students is 208 students. The sample was taken by using random sampling. Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design used as research design. The research sample consists of two classes: IX F, which is the control group and IX E, which is the experimental group. A group of students in an experimental class are taught using the Apples to Apples game. While the control group received instruction using conventional methods. The experimental class and control class receive a post-test from the researcher following six sessions of treatment. The finding indicated that pre-test mean score in experimental class was 37.13, whereas the pre-test mean score in control class was 36.7. While, the post-test mean score in experimental class is 77.8, whereas the post-test mean score in control class is 65.17. Using SPSS 22 version, the researcher analyzed the data using the Paired Sample T-test. The result was 0.000 ≤ 0.050, indicating that Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected. It means there is difference significant effect between students who taugh by using Apples to Apples game and students who are not taught by using Apples to Apples game at Ninth grade students at SMP N 19 Kota Tegal. Based on the result, the Apples to Apples give an effect on students’ students vocabulary achievement.
