Abstract
Pinuntun, Dea Ayu Putri. 2024. 1619500048: “The Effect of Using Scrabble Media on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery”. Research Project, Strata 1 Program, Faculty of Teachet Training and Education, Universitas Pancasakti Tegal. The first advisor is Noeris Meiristiani, M. Pd., and the second advisor is Drs. Masfuad Edy S., M.Pd. Keywords: Vocabulary Mastery, Scrabble Media. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an increase in students' vocabulary mastery by using Scrabble media for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lebaksiu in academic year 2023/2024. The researcher used a quantitative approach with a true experimental design. The population in this study were seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lebaksiu in the 2023/2024 academic year which was carried out by random sampling technique and divided into two groups (VII G and VII H), each experimental group totaling 32 students (using the Scrabble media) and the control group (not using Scrabble media). The researcher used vocabulary test as the research instrument. The type of test used was a multiple choice test with four options. The t-test results found a significant difference between the experimental group's posttest of 76.84 outperforming the control group of 67.63 and it was found that Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 which means <0.05. The results of this study prove that the use of Scrabble media has an effect on improving students' vocabulary, which means that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. The researcher recommends the results of this study that: (1) teachers are expected to be able to develop more creative learning in packaging the use of Scrabble media for students depending on their needs, (2) students are also expected to be more active in practicing vocabulary both outside the classroom and in the classroom as an integral part of learning; and (3) further research is carried out at different levels or scopes to evaluate the effects of using Scrabble media in improving students' vocabulary mastery.
