Research Project. Strata 1 Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pancasakti University Tegal, The First Advisor is Dra. Sri Wardhani, M.Pd and The Second Advisor is Anin Eka Sulistyawati, M. Hum. Keywords: perception, subtitled movie, vocabulary This study is aimed to find out the students’ perception in the use of subtitled movie in enriching their English Vocabulary and to find out whether the subtitled movie can motivate student to learn English vocabulary or not. The participant in this research are 16 students of fourth semester at English Education Program Universitas Pancasakti Tegal. Qualitative method was applied in this study. The researcher also used triangulation with three instruments. Checklist observation, questionnaire and interview were used as the instrument to get the data. The findings of this research showed that the students have positive perception in the use of subtitled movie to enrich their English vocabulary. They also feel motivated when using subtitled movie as the learning media because it could make an enjoyable entertainment for them. Students’ interest on watching subtitled movies also affect their English vocabulary enrichment. It is because they often watch the subtitled movie since a long time ago. Thus, watching subtitled movie can be one of the effective media for the students to acquire more new words. Therefore, it is expected for the educator to use subtitled movie as the learning media so the students can be more enjoyable during the learning process. The students also can utilize movies as their learning tool. Using the subtitled movie is recommended to enrich their English vocabulary. For the further study, it is expected for other researchers to explore more about the use of subtitled movies as the learning media to explain additional information.
