Abstract
In Indonesian positive law, consumer is the definition written in the UUPK. This is detrimental to consumers who do not get clear information regarding product labeling in Indonesian. BPOM plays an important role in monitoring these products, but violations still occur, so strict sanctions are needed to protect consumer rights. This study aims (1) to determine the role of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) in Consumer Protection on skincare without Indonesian language labeling. (2) To find out what are the impacts of the circulation of imported skincare products without Indonesian language labels. The type of research used is library research with a normative approach and statute approach (legislation). Data collection techniques are carried out through literature studies, analyzed using qualitative methods. The results of this study indicate that the inclusion of labels in Indonesian is regulated in Article 8 letter j of the UUPK and Government Regulation No.29 of 2021, which requires business actors to ensure labels in Indonesian. BPOM as a supervisory agency has an important role in overseeing imported skincare products, especially regarding safety, effectiveness, and compliance with regulations. In addition, BPOM can also provide administrative and legal sanctions for violating business actors, including product recall and destruction. With so many business actors selling imported skincare without Indonesian language labels, it has a negative impact on consumers. Based on the results of this research, it is hoped that it will become information and input for students, academics, practitioners, and all parties in need within the Faculty of Law, Pancasakti University Tegal. Keywords: BPOM, Consumer Protection, Labeling
