Abstract
This study examines the important role of microcontroller programming literacy in Internet of Things (IoT) projects and how the use of the Wokwi simulator can improve this literacy. Microcontroller programming skills are a crucial element in the development of IoT devices, but there are still many challenges faced, especially by students who are new to this field. The urgency of this study lies in the urgent need to overcome the limited access to physical hardware, high costs, and limited laboratory infrastructure, which often become obstacles in the learning process. In the era of rapid IoT technology development, programming literacy is a very necessary skill, especially for the new generation of technology workers. This study uses an experimental method with a quasi-experimental approach involving a group of students who learn microcontroller programming using the Wokwi simulator and a control group who use physical hardware. Data were collected through direct observation, pre- and post-intervention programming skills tests, and interviews to understand students' learning experiences. The expected results are an increase in students' practical programming skills and the development of a more in-depth simulation-based learning approach. The implications of this study open up opportunities for the integration of similar simulators in educational curricula to enrich the technology learning experience
