Abstract

AS’ ARI. 1610500007. (“Improving Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Through Brain Based Learning (BBL) Strategy (A Classroom Action Research on the Second Grade Students of MTs Aswaja Bumijawa In The Academic Year 2018/2019)”). Thesis Strata 1, English Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Pancasakti University Tegal. First Advisor Dra. Hj. Sri Wardhani, M.Pd, Second Advisor H. Sumartono, M.Pd. Key Words: Brain Based Learning (BBL) Strategy and Students’ Vocabulary Mastery. The aim of the research is to find out whether Brain Based Learning (BBL) Strategy can Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery on the Second Grade Students of MTs Aswaja Bumijawa In The Academic Year 2018/2019. The problem formulation in this research is “Can the Brain Based Learning (BBL) Strategy Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery on the Second Grade Students of MTs Aswaja Bumijawa In The Academic Year 2018/2019?” This research is a classroom action research. The population of the study is the second grade students of MTs Aswaja Bumijawa in the academic year of 2018/2019 which consist of 100 students from 3 classes. In this research, the researcher used VIII B to carry out this research where is consist of 30 students. The result of this study shows that in the pre cycle the average of student’score is 61,8. In the first cycle the average of students’ score is 67,2. In the second cycle the average of students’ score is 80,9. From pre cycle, first cycle and second cycle,The average of students’ score is always increasing. It means that there is an improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement after being taught using Brain Based Learning (BBL) Strategy. The conclusion of this research is Brain Based Learning Strategy can improve students’ vocabulary mastery in the second grade at MTs Aswaja Bumijawa in the academic year of 2018/2019. As suggestion, the teacher should be able to use appropriate strategy in teaching English lesson especially in teaching vocabulary. Teaching English by Using Brain Based Learning Strategy can improve students vocabulary mastery, without causing stress and bored. So, the writer suggests for the English teacher to use this strategy in teaching vocabulary in Junior High School.
