ABSTRACT Iqbal Eko Purwanto. Comparative Analysis of Bank Soundness Indicating Symptoms of Financial Distress with the RGEC (Risk Profile, Good Corporate Governance, Earnings, Capital) and MDA (Multiple Discriminant Analysis) Method. (Case Study of Sharia Commercial Banks Period 2015-2019). Thesis: Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Pancasakti Tegal. Rating of Bank Soundness It is an important thing to do to see whether a bank is healthy or not. To gain the trust of the public at large the bank must be in a healthy condition in accordance with the Financial Services Authority Regulation No.4 / POJK.03 / 2016. Islamic Commercial Bank is the object of this research. In this study to assess the soundness of banks that indicate the symptoms of financial distress researchers will use the RGEC (Risk Profile, Good Corporate Governance, Earnings, Capital) and MDA (Multiple Discriminant Analysis) methods. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there are differences in the rating of bank soundness that indicate symptoms of financial distress using the RGEC method with the MDA method and to find out which of the two methods is better in assessing the level of bank health that indicates the symptoms of financial distress whether the RGEC method or the MDA method in assessing the soundness of Sharia Commercial Banks during the 2015-2019 period. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. This research was conducted with a population of 14 banks and then sampled as many as 6 banks. The results of the assessment of the soundness of banks using the RGEC method are in the criteria of "VERY HEALTHY" while the assessment of the soundness of banks using the MDA method gets the predicate "NOT HEALTHY (BANGKRUPT)". As for the two different test, the mean shows if there is a significant difference in the rating of bank soundness indicating the symptoms of financial distress of Islamic Banks using the RGEC method with the application of the bank soundness rating using the MDA method. While the RGEC method is considered better for assessing the level of bank health that indicates symptoms of financial distress compared to the MDA method as seen from the weight or score and the predicate of each method. Keywords: Rating of bank soundness, RGEC method, MDA (Multiple Discriminant Analysis) method.
