The purpose of this study was to determine the initial ability and increase in critical thinking skills of students after applying the science storytelling learning method based on local wisdom of the Muarareja beach, knowing the effectiveness of the science storytelling learning method based on local wisdom of Muarareja beach, knowing the response of students to the science storytelling method based on local coastal wisdom. Muarareja. This research is a quasi experimental research with a pretest-posttest design that is not the equivalent of design. The population in this study was class VII in one of the Tegal City Junior High Schools in the 2019/2020 academic year. The sample was taken using the purposive sampling method. Data collection techniques used critical thinking skills essay tests, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test and N-gain test. Previously, the data were first tested with the normality test and the homogeneity test. The results showed that the critical thinking skills of students in junior high school were low. There is an increase in the critical thinking skills of students after the application of science storytelling learning methods based on local wisdom of Muarareja beach. The science storytelling learning method based on local wisdom of Muarareja beach is effectively used. The response of students to the science storytelling method based on the local wisdom of Muarareja beach is in the good category.
